There's a beautiful thing that has happened in the hair world as of recently. We are finally waking up to the fact that crunchy hair and split ends are not the vibe and you have no idea how happy I am for ALL OF US. We have done away with the over processed, silver blonde that might wither away in the wind if it blows too hard.
The truth about damaged blonde hair
Now the thing is...sadly..a lot of us have some damage to reverse and work through here. At the end of the day as much as I wish I could just poof, give you bouncy, shiny, and luscious locks in one day, I'm not a magician. The truth about over processed hair is that it won't disappear if you place a darker toner or color over the top. It may give an illusion of healthier looking hair but the blonde underneath is still existing and damaged. Which is why most hairstylists will ask you if you've ever been blonde before your brunette phase.
How to move forward with your healthy hair journey
The biggest question is then "so how am I supposed to start my healthy hair journey?".
Number one on the list, talk to your current stylist about different ways you can change up your color routine. My best advice is to create more space between your appointments so that your hair has time to recover fully before your next session.
There are a few ways to make that possible without you feeling like your roots are horrendous.
Ask for a more "lived-in" look
Ask for a root melt and toner to blend and refresh existing blonde (without bleaching)
Go back to your natural (this is for the gals who aren't worried about getting rid of their blonde)

Creating a healthy at-home haircare regimen
You probably see your stylist a few times a year, and of course (I hope) she is taking great care of your hair in the salon. But when you are home MOST of the time, it is so important that you are being intentional about how you take care of your hair.
The Perfect Recipe for Healthier Hair:
Wash with shampoo/conditioner that is free of chemicals, alcohols, silicones, parabens, and sulfates. (the less ingredients the better)
Do not brush wet hair (if you have a hard time with this, blow dry until 80-90% dry before brushing)
Do a conditioning hair mask once a week (I recommend using rosemary oil, jojoba oil, black castor oil, argon oil, and/or olive oil) You can also use these as split end oils.
Stay up to date on your trims every 3-6 months!! (if you're not cutting the split ends, they only continue to split up the strands.)
Do hairstyles that require little to no heat. heatless curls, braids, twists etc...
Incorporate a 2-3min gentle scalp massage when washing your hair
The hardest part about haircare
Most people struggle with consistency and patience when they decide on this journey, you're not alone. I will tell you from experience, that giving it time and effort are the true key ingredients to the success of this process. Trust the process friends, you got this!
